Invited to perform on stages around the world, Eliane Reyes captivates audiences with her distinctive musical personality. Constantly exploring new artistic paths, she always preserves the subtle touch that defines her identity. First trained by her mother, she gave her first recital at the age of five and received the César Franck Prize the same year. Her encounters with György Cziffra at the age of ten—who made her the youngest laureate of his foundation in Senlis—and with Martha Argerich at fourteen marked decisive milestones in her life as a pianist.
She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Lemmens Institute in Leuven with Alan Weiss, and completed her postgraduate studies at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) under the guidance of Michel Béroff, Brigitte Engerer, and Jacques Rouvier.
Eliane Reyes has been nominated three times for the International Classical Music Awards and received the Octaves de la Musique in Belgium in recognition of her entire career.
A 45-minute documentary on her musical journey, Jeunes solistes, grands destins, directed by Thierry Loreau and Pierre Barré, was broadcast on Belgian national television (RTBF). She also appears in a documentary dedicated to Clara Haskil, Le mystère de l’interprète, produced by Louise Productions and broadcast on ARTE.
In 2017, Eliane Reyes had the privilege of performing with the Koch Trio for the Imperial Family of Japan during the state visit of H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg at the Akasaka Palace, following an earlier performance before Simone Veil at the European Parliament in Luxembourg.
During the 2018/2019 season, she appeared in recital at La Roque d’Anthéron and La Folle Journée de Nantes, and performed Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto at the Salle Gaveau under the direction of Debora Waldman. She also performed Mozart’s “Jeunehomme” Concerto under Roberto Benzi, as well as Malcolm Arnold’s Concerto for Piano Four Hands with Frank Braley and the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia.
Eclectic in her programming, Eliane Reyes has conceived lecture-concerts with figures such as Jean-Yves Clément, Michel Onfray, Fabrice Midal, Axelle Thiry, and Didier Van Cauwelaert. In duo with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, she received the “Gouden Label” for their world premiere recording of works by Brahms, Brüll, and Bargiel.
Today, she teaches piano at the École Normale de Musique de Paris (Cortot School) and piano accompaniment at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP). An honorary citizen of her hometown Verviers (Belgium) and an Officer of the Order of Leopold, she became the first Belgian pianist to receive the insignia of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in France.
